The Theme for the Christ Our Passover 2013 was “The Cleansing Tide" emphasizing the symbolism of the blood in scripture and the Judeo-Christian faith. Our “Bless the City” offering honored the Huntsville Arts Council. Special guests were Allison Dillon-Jauken (Director) and  Gina Hurst (Services Manager). Allison brought us to tears with her soft-spoken Hearts cry for the Arts. In the past the Arts Community has not been widely embraced by the Judeo-Christian Community. Not so anymore, and it is with great expectancy that we will see the forthcoming skilled craftsmen, actors, dancers, singers, musicians, and artists empowered by the Lord to show us His glory in art. Allison was presented our annual plaque in honor of her work with the Huntsville Arts Council. John Buhler , the presenter, pointed out the Biblical character Bezaleel who headed up the arts council under Moses.

Awareness Ministries Founder, Robert Somerville gave a rousing
speech and Hebrew Seder demonstration, emphasizing the reasons for Christians to "Honor the day of Passover." Many denominations and ethnic groups were represented, as well as several counties in  North Alabama, demonstrating Christian unity. Pastor Greg Simon and the Valley Fellowship Worship Team lead in praises, shiny streamers in gold, silver, blue, lavender, aqua, red, and green were incorporated into the worship. Leah Catherine Venable had written a song of worship that was appropriate for this season, "The Sprit is Upon Him” and was accompanied by the Covenant Dancers. Some members of the Dance Team left the stage and came into the audience to gather the children leading them in a dance before the Lord; many others from the audience joined them. It was awe inspiring to see so many joyful people worshipping.

And seek the peace of the city whither I have caused you to be carried away captives, and pray unto the LORD for it: for in the peace thereof shall ye have peace. Jeremiah 29:7

The Feast Focus

The specific Passover lesson for this year’s celebration focused on a greater definition of what was labeled the “Melchisedec Transition!” This awesome lesson is figuratively introduced to us from the story of Abraham and Melchisedec found in Genesis 14:18 & Psalms 110. Simply stated, at the conclusion of the Last Supper Jesus deliberately and prophetically lifted the bread and wine from the Hebrew Seder to introduce the New Covenant Communion/Eucharist. That act was not limited to being a demonstration of Christ’s impending death alone (as is often supposed); it was also a prophetic sign/symbol of a priesthood transition. Therefore, Communion is both a memorial of Jesus’ death and a celebration of His Melchisedec Kingship/Priesthood (Hebrews 7). Awareness Ministry will soon publish an unparalleled dissertation of this entire process of transition entitled “Melchisedec in the Hebrew Seder.” A synopsis is already available at www.awarenessministry.org.

Come let us celebrate and learn together, both Jew and Gentile
